Sekkai was once a prosperous land, farmers had plentiful crops, the politicians only had the smallest of infractions, dragons rose regularly and candidates were always needed. Everything was flourishing and successful, a veritable utopia. It seemed that life couldn't get any more perfect.
But perfection cannot last forever. Something was forming, something only known as the Taint; civilians feared it, riders hated it, few could survive it. The Taint ravaged the lands of Sekkai and twisted the minds of dragons and riders alike, mutating them them from keepers of peace to mutated behemoths with slavering jaws and a mind for one thing, and one alone. Pure destruction.
The battles were long and bloody, involving the destruction of the Academy at one point, even though it was eventually rebuilt. Things were hardly easy on the Sekkaians, though, especially as the Tainted forces began to gain ground bit by bit, steadily spreading their influence and expanding the Desolation until it began to eat away at the lands of Sekkai like a swiftly spreading cancer. They was little to stop their growing force, but things were swiftly about to change for the worse, especially with the introduction of a new Tainted breed. This breed, an off shoot of the Rosemary breed, were hardly combatants but possessed the capability to kill many with relative ease. These dangerous creatures were able to infect many with a deadly disease, killing off most of the gravity, lava, ice, and glass dragons and sterilizing those remaining. This dealt a crushing blow to Sekkai and land was lost almost instantly, the war swiftly turning around and tilting discernibly in the favor of the Taint.
Now, ten years since the events of the original Sekkai, only the East remains, Niyushi packed with those remaining Sekkaian refugees. The forces of good have been decimated and the victory for the Tainted seems secure, but there are stirrings among the Qih-nzak that could spell either a turning point or doom for all...
Welcome, then, to Sekkai Fractures.
