A Tale of Dragons and Survival on the Western Ring

It's also a weyr of exiles, where every attack of the alien menace called Thread puts both dragonriders and those they fight to protect at risk of their lives. But the settlers of Mavros are stubborn, remaining for the sake of their ideals - and because of this, the courage of Mavros' people finds no equal among all the weyrs of Pern.
Mavros is an RPG open to all players, based on a series of classic fantasy novels by Anne McCaffrey but accessible to those who have not read them as well. Basic setting info is posted in our "Getting Started" section, to give newcomers a quick introduction to Pern - since we only have original characters running around, and no canons, it's a simple matter of learning the same amount you'd have to for any original scifi or fantasy RPG.
We're rated PG-13, have been trundling on at a steady pace since the spring, and feature a small, friendly, tight-knit community where members of all ability and experience levels are welcome. Hatchings, where your character can try to Impress a dragon, are not the be-all and end-all of the game: we do our best to put as much emphasis as possible on other types of fun weyr-wide events and plots, too, like rider training, festivals and Threadfall, and focus on developing our characters together over the long term.
