Name: Mudclaw
Age: 18 Moons
Rank: Warrior
Clan: NightClan
Description: Why would any parent decide to name their kit after something so... Filthy? Something that just ruines your paws and makes you create disgusted faces as you try licking it off? Mudclaw never really got to know the answers to those questions, but he likes to think that it was because mud was somehow dear to his parents and some magical StarClan Warrior had told them that Mud was one day going to save everyone from destruction. But no. Not really. He was named the wonderfully charming Mudkit because of the different mixtures and swirls of brown in his fur. If you were to plop Mudclaw down in a pool of mud near the Black Trees, he would blend it quite nicely with the sticky brown substance.
The only real admirable part of his color-scheme would be his face. The streaks of brown rain down into a faded white and beige near the center of his face and whiskers, creating a sort of mask that ends at his very dark brown nose. His eyes are truly the most stunning thing about him. An eerie mix between green and yellow seem to be floating outside of his skull thanks to the stark contrast between his pelt and his eyes, creating a very mesmerizing feeling whenever one stares deep into them. They're quite beautiful, and capable of portraying such warmth and friendship that any cat would surely smile just catching a glimpse of them. Mudclaw's eyes always seem to dance with giddy happiness no matter what situation he's in unless someone dear is in danger. You can always see his emotions and feelings through his eyes. Always.
If you pick apart at his pelt and hypnotical eyes, you will find a very nice and muscular cat with well-rounded claws and perfect white sharp teeth. He does, however, have a rather large V-shaped cut in his right ear from a close encounter with a fox as a young apprentice. There is also a scar running along his stomach from a nasty fight with a den-mate over some fresh-kill. (Mudclaw won of course.) His voice is a nice, soothing tone with a charming laugh that usually ends in a chuckle. His face always seems to have a sheepish grin adorning it, and his looks don't get ignored by most of the she-cats around him. Although he isn't considered to be the most gorgeous cat anyone has ever laid their eyes upon, he is a very nice looking tom that shouldn't be over-looked.
Personality: Tricks, jokes, pranks, breaking of the Warrior Code, trailing pretty she-cats, impressing pretty she-cats, talking to pretty she-cats, fighting other clan-cats, trying to be a hero, failing at being a hero, and wanting to be clan leader. That’s Mudclaw in a brief list. There is of course a lot more to him, but the very surface is defined roughly in that sentence. He is one of those typical toms that still hasn’t completely grown out of being an Apprentice. Only a couple of moons ago did his true responsible side finally begin to show through all that muscle and charm. It was almost to the point where Eclipsedstar delayed his Warrior ceremony because he feared that Mudclaw wouldn’t be ready.
He does take his rank very seriously. Being a Warrior is his life, and it has been something that he has dreamed about since he was a little kit. Being named Mudkit didn’t make his life any easier, and from an early age he was sometimes teased about being dirty and stepped upon. But, alas, Mudclaw is a strong-hearted tom, and he refused to let the comments get to him. Stubborn is a common word used when talking about the brown NightClanner, and he would never let anyone tell him that he was worthless. In fact, he is so self-centered and egoistical that he thinks of himself to be one of the most important members of NightClan. (Much to the dismay of everyone else) So far his cocky attitude has led him to nowhere but trouble, but he does have a calm side as well, which usually seems to surprise others.
StarClan is something that is dear in Mudclaw’s life, mainly because his dear mother is up there in the stars, and the brown Warrior wants to make sure to do anything to make his mother proud. Those who are close to him mean a lot, and he never lets go once he’s gotten a hold. Friends and family is what makes him happy in life, and he would be very lost without them. It is rare that Mudclaw shows his soft and gentle side, but he such a compassionate cat that even the heart of a Queen is no competition. Mudclaw just wants everyone to be happy, especially the cats in his clan. Loyalty runs through his blood, and although he might cheat sometimes by eating prey before bringing it back to the clan or sneaking off the borders because of a dare, he would never do anything to jeopardize the clan too seriously.
Mudclaw is looking forward to starting a family some day. His upbringing in a traditional family with a father figure that drilled respect for she-cats and family love in to him has taught him that nothing in this world can make you happier then true love. That is why he is just waiting for his true love to come wandering about so that he can finally settle down and become a father and watch his children grow up and become strong Warriors of NightClan. But perhaps for now, he should just enjoy being the best Warrior (remember, his opinion) that NightClan has ever seen.
History:
Mudclaw has had a normal life. He was born to a mother and a father together with two other siblings. His father, Talonstrike, was a respected Warrior of NightClan while his mother, Ivyfur, was a kind but strong Queen. His mother had never cared much for the life as a Warrior, and was perfectly happy in the nursery watching her kits grow and helping other mother’s along with their litters. Mudclaw respected this kind and loving trait that his mother had, and although she didn’t have any battle scars or war stories, he still looked up to her just as much as he did his father. Talonstrike had an impressive record for battles and fights with both other clan cats and creatures of the forest. He would keep his children up at night, telling them stories about how he defeated three members of DeathClan without as much of a scratch on his pelt. Although this might be a little over-exaggerated, Mudclaw and his siblings loved the stories and treasures them deep in their hearts. Talonstrike is now nearing elder age and is feeling the effects of old age.
Ivyfur died when Mudclaw was 13 moons old. The loss hit the tabby tom hard and it took a moon or two before he fully recovered from the pain of losing someone so close to him. The experience hardened him though, and it was one of the factors that caused him to realize that life wasn’t all about joking and trying to be the best he could be. Mudclaw has two siblings. Stonefoot and Ambersong. The three of them are the best of friends and Mudclaw holds them very dear. Although he is closer to Ambersong than he is his brother because of an incident during his apprentice-ship, the three of them are all there for each other whenever they need it. Their mother’s death brought them closer together, and the bond that they share will never go away.
Mudclaw’s kithood was filled with little mini epic adventures of cricket hunting and star-gazing, coupled with magical stories about battles and the ancestors up in the sky. By the time the tabby tom and his siblings were Apprentices, they were bustling with energy and proved to be quite successful in both hunting and fighting. Although none of them reflected their mother’s personality all too much, she was still ridiculously proud of her kits and would smother them in mother love any chance she got (which was not often since they made a point to avoid such embarrassing confrontations.) Mudclaw had a close encounter with a fox as a young Apprentice that he only narrowly escaped with the help of his mentor. The creature did however manage to create a rather impressive gash in Mudclaw’s right ear which forms a clean V.
If there is one thing that Mudclaw regrets about his life, it would be his argument with his brother. Stonefoot and Mudclaw started drifting apart as the Apprentice trio grew older. Mudclaw and Ambersong were both talented and ambitious, while Stonefoot was a little too excited to rise in power. On multiple occasions he spoke of becoming leader of the clan, and his siblings thought nothing of his obsession with power until he asked them for help in order to plot a scheme for him to become deputy once they were all Warriors. Ambersong and Mudclaw immediately withdrew from their brother, not wanting to part in his evil plot.
Stonefoot continued to act strange through-out their Apprentice-ship, and when he one day stole Mudclaw’s fresh-kill and claimed it as his own, the tabby tom’s nerve snapped. He spoke to his brother about respect and the Warrior Code, and the conversation got heated. Stonefoot rambled on about how StarClan were idiots and how NightClan needed to shape up so that they could be better than all the other clans. Mudclaw attacked Stonefoot when he proclaimed that his mother never was anything but a lazy pile of bone and fur. A violent fight broke out and it ended when Mudclaw drove a crushing blow into Stonefoot’s skull. Neither of them was fatally injured, but Mudclaw was left with a hideous and large scar on his stomach while Stonefoot is missing most of his ear.
When they’re mother died, Stonefoot finally apologized for his behavior, and Ambersong and Mudclaw hesitantly forgave him. They have been growing closer ever since then.
The beginning part of Mudclaw’s Warrior-hood was spent grieving his mother who had mysteriously died one day after falling asleep and never waking up. No one ever found out how she died, but most speculate that it was probably her time to join StarClan. Life went on with the usual she-cat flirting and strength-proving, and Mudclaw is a rather successful Warrior of NightClan.
