Name: Patchfur Prefix Meaning: The patches on his pelt Suffix Meaning: Referring to the patches on his fur Age: 42 moons Rank: Medicine Cat Clan: Nightclan Description: Large white tom with brown patches and yellow eyes When you see a cat like this, female is usually what would be the first thought in your mind. Everything about this cat's appearance screams feminine. But sadly, this cat is tom. He's male. The tom's fur is that of a long cats, patches within it. White. Yellow eyes. Well, there's the basic description, but not enough detail. The tom is large in size, and strong in build. It's a wonder he's a medicine cat instead of a warrior. Starclan knows he'd make a pretty good medicine cat. The tom is mainly white, but also has patches in his fur. The patches include many tints of brown, from dark to light, it only matters where you're looking at him from. His face, like a perfectly fitting mask, is white, but above the forehead, there is a light dusty brown. A darker brown stripe runs through it, splitting off almost as soon as it starts, and it starts between two large, light brown ears. Set centered on his nose, is a peachy pink nose, good with scents, and pretty all the same. Dark, kind, yellow, emotion-filled eyes complete his facial features.
His paws are white, with the exception of one. His front left foot(correct me if I'm wrong, I've never been good with my lefts and rights.) is also another place with a patch. About the size of a mitten on a cat, the tom's brown foot is the shade of a darker brown, though not as dark as the patch on his back. However, it's not as light as the light dusty brown markings he has on his face. It falls somewhere in the middle, however, it's more on the darker side. The color isn't a solid brown. I've forgot to mention that bit. It has that darker shade of brown mixed in with it, a paint splash here and there. Not literally, but I think you know what I mean. White fur isn't white fur. There are different shades some as white as they come, others you can't tell if they're a light shade of gray. His is as white as they come. A snow white.
As you probably already know, he has black brown patches in his coat. The patches are not always the same color, in a way. But in another way, they are. They're all brown. Same color. But different shades of brown. Different colors. But either way, the patches are set into different hues of a vibrant brown. There are four patches all together, two of which we've already talked about. One on his face, the other on his paw. The brown patches, because of the difference between the browns and the whites, have a slightly blurred look to them. At least the tint of brown that dominates the patch set on his back, glazing down on either side of his pelt. There is a darker tinted brown on his coat, slightly down on the right? side. On this same side, there is also some white, then another patch, but this patch I'm counting with the one just right above it. It's the same shade as the darker patch on his back.
With some white wrapping around the patch, we eventually end up at this tom's tail, also the last patch on his pretty feminine pelt. Large and sweeping this tail is, fluffy too. The tail, also set into many different tints of brown, has a large variety of tints in it. Ranging from the darkest browned tints to the lightest, mixed in with some dusty white. It doesn't get lighter as you go down to the tail tip, but it changes in a pattern-less pattern. Does that make sense?
Personality: strong, wise, independent Because of the large build this tom has, he's as good a fighter as some of the warriors. He's a pacifist, which is the main reason he became a medicine cat. But he's not to the extremes he won't raise a paw against an enemy in defense to himself, or a clan mate, or a friend. The tom shows a strong side in mentality as well, able to keep a cool head in the most dire of situations. It takes a strong mentality and physicality to solve some of the problems you have to face. And this tom makes that statement true. Patchfur has a wise demeanor around him. He shows a strong connection to Starclan, and doesn't doubt his warrior ancestors. He thinks that in the end, they'll always save the clans. Wise also comes in with the way he speaks, and helps his clan mates. A gentle tongue for clan mates, but a bitter claw for enemies. He's one to put others before himself, and care for those in need with the greatest of his ability. He's good with herbs, and it shows.
The tom is also one to work alone. He doesn't mind company, but doesn't value it either. Teamwork is essential. He gets that, but it doesn't mean he has to like it. Well he doesn't hate it, but it's not his favorite. He'd rather work by himself any day. Things for him, get done quicker if he's alone. But he doesn't mind the occasional company. The tom can be social, if he wants to be, but he'd rather blend into the background than be the center of attention. Not that he burns under the spotlight. He doesn't have a fear of speaking in front of a large group of cats. He is also stubborn. If he wants something done, he'll do it himself, if at all possible. He also sticks to his plans if he thinks their the best, and wouldn't falter against them unless they prove an epic failure.
He's a kind, heartfelt tom. Patchfur doesn't think lowly on the cats around him. If anything at all, he holds all being in high praise, admiring them for themselves. He respects those who, in his opinion, deserve that respect. He doesn't yell at others, but is stern if needed. He's stern if there's a squirming kit anxious to return to play, or a complaining apprentice with a thorn stuck in their pad, or a warrior who thinks their fine and won't let him help them. He has a strong voice there. He doesn't mind not being able to be a father, because to him, those around him respect and love him enough to make up for that missing love. He pities any creature in pain, and will end that pain any way he has to. If it means killing them, he'll not hesitate. If it means herbs, he's jumping at the chance. He doesn't believe others have to die, but he won't stop another from killing a wild creature if it means their survival.
History: Waterleaf and Sedgefur were apprentices together. They kicked it off right away, and became close soon after. The two were made warriors, and Waterleaf became pregnant a moon later. Sedgefur was so proud. Waterleaf moved into the nursery, where she gave birth to a kit a few moons later. There was only one, but that meant more love for the kit by both the parents. They called the cat Patchkit, because of the patches the kit bore on his back. Waterleaf and Patchkit looked similar in fur, but her light blue eyes stayed with her, while Sedgefur's yellow eyes landed with the kit. Patchkit was even a long hair while growing up. Well, guess that's to be expected, as his parents both had long fur. Waterleaf and Sedgefur loved that kit to death. One day, Waterleaf took Patchkit out to see the territory. Sedgefur was to meet them there. They didn't stray far from camp, but that wasn't enough to keep the tragedy from striking into the core of this happy family. Waterleaf settled down in some long ferns, and a fox showed up. Well, this fox was hungry, and what better treat than a kit? Mommy didn't matter. He was hungry, he'd be able to handle her easily. A fight broke out, and soon Sedgefur came streaking through the territory, and pulled the fox off of Waterleaf. He then fought the fox, who managed a blow into his foot. This was enough to make the cat stumble, and the fox took the opportunity to kill the cat. Waterleaf jumped in and the fox ran off.
Waterleaf carried her dead mate back to camp, and Patchkit followed, staying close to his mother's side. When back at camp, she grieved, and Littleleaf brought her some poppy seed. Waterleaf and Patchkit stayed beside their fallen mate and father that night. The next day, the elders came and carried off the body, buring it in Nightclan territory. Patchkit became Patchpaw, and became apprentice to Littleleaf. Waterleaf ran away soon after. Patchpaw was sad to see his mother go, but wouldn't chase after her. He was loyal to his clan, and when Waterleaf asked him to come with her, he refused. She was never seen again. It is said she went to find and kill the fox who had taken her mate from her. But no one knows. Littleleaf and Patchpaw became close, and Littleleaf taught her apprentice everything she knew. She showed him where the best places to find herbs were, fighting tactics, and how to use herbs. He was good at both. Patchpaw soon became Patchfur.
Littleleaf then confessed. She told Patchfur she was pregnant, and would leave the clan. She had fallen in love with a loner, and the loner, Reed, had asked her to leave her clan for him. She had agreed. It was amazing what cats would do for love. Patchfur saw how it tore Littleleaf apart, and he knew it was against the warrior code. He accompanied Littleleaf to the border, and there met Reed. The black cat was large, but he seemed kind. Patchfur then left Littleleaf in the company of the cat she had broken the warrior code with. The tom watched his mentor walk off with Reed, and left.
A moon or two later, Patchfur was out hunting for herbs. He heard a voice shouting his name, and saw a large black tom pelting towards him, his fur shaking in excitement and anxiousness. When the tom told Patchfur why he needed his help, Patchfur ran after the tom, his large form able to keep up with Reed easily. He soon found Littleleaf laying on her side, two kits beside her. Patchfur gave her some mallow to help with her mild supply. Then he wished her good luck, and Littleleaf commented he was a good Medicine cat. That meant a lot to him, and he went back to camp happy and proud.
