Battles and fighting are a regular occurrence between the Clans. Here, for all of your convenience, is a nice list (in chronological order) of most of the major battles or fights that have taken place over the years.
The greatest, bloodiest battle in all of the Clans' history was that in which ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, and BloodClan fought until nearly every cat had been slaughtered and lay rotting throughout the forest. The five leaders remained, having been brought down to their last lives. They were all wounded, exhausted, and had lost all hope in everything they had once believed in. It was known as the battle where the stars went black, because as the clans died, the stars in the sky started to disappear. Deathstar, leader of BloodClan, declared to Moonstar, Nightstar, Sunstar, and Daystar that he would rule the forest with his new, savage band of cats: DeathClan. It was then that StarClan decided to intervene, and they granted Moonstar, Nightstar, Sunstar, and Daystar eight more lives each, and told them to go build new clans, to build their new homes and start over. A new beginning. The four leaders settled down into their new clans, MoonClan, NightClan, SunClan, and DayClan, and soon enough the small clans began to grow. This was a new era. It came to be known as the era of Silver Warriors.
In the seasons that have passed since the battle where the stars went black, since the birth of the new Clans, a number of smaller battles have disturbed the relative peace. The most significant of them areas follows...
-One of many battles between SunClan and DayClan killed a SunClan apprentice, nearly forty moons ago. Another battle a few moons later killed the medicine cat, Goldenbranch. Her apprentice, Blackrain, took on the role of serving as SunClan’s medicine cat.
- DeathClan invaded NightClan secretly under the cover of night's darkness, stealing away some of the Clan's kits because they were in dire need of more members. NightClan spotted them and fought back, saving all but one kit that was taken back to DeathClan. NightClan presumed that the kit was dead.
- DeathClan launched a surprise attack on MoonClan camp, trying to claim the territory as their own. The fighting went on into the night, but eventually the DeathClanners retreated because MoonClan refused to give up. Tragically, MoonClan’s deputy died during the attack, and Minterstar appointed Dragonclaw as the new deputy.
- NightClan gathered information that the kit that DeathClan had stolen was still alive and was now apprentice age. They sent out a patrol to retrieve the stolen NightClanner. DeathClan fought back and the stolen NightClan kit (now named Pain) ended up killing her own mother. NightClan realized that Pain did not want to return to them, and reluctantly withdrew.
- In the middle of a bitter Leafbare, the rivalry between DayClan and SunClan reached its highest point, and SunClan invaded DayClan’s camp. A DayClan apprentice was killed, but in the end, SunClan withdrew. The fighting died down slowly after that battle, and stopped altogether later that moon.
- Soon after, a series of border skirmishes broke out between NightClan and DayClan. Several cats, including the parents of DayClan's current leader, were killed, until both Clans decided that it wasn’t worth any more losses.
- At roughly the same time, a sudden, unexpected battle between MoonClan and NightClan killed a MoonClan apprentice named Daisypaw. Despite general outrage in MoonClan, neither Clan's leader was willing to wage war on the other's.
- Nearly twenty moons later, an ordinary border skirmish between MoonClan and NightClan ended in tragedy when a warrior on each side was killed. Inkpelt, deputy of MoonClan, suffered grave injuries and died at the battle scene. Amberfur, a NightClan warrior, died from her wounds shortly after the small fight. Lightstar and Dragonstar, now MoonClan's leader, decided against a full-scale battle because, after the loss of a warrior from each Clan, neither leader was willing to risk the lives of any more of their Clanmates. Flamefur was appointed deputy of MoonClan.
- In early leafbare of this past year, DeathClan launched a surprise attack on Moonphase Pond and cut off the Clans' connection to StarClan. In the same battle, with the dark spirit of DeathClan's founder leading them, Fading and the DeathClan cats corrupted Eclipsedstar of NightClan, who convinced many in his Clan to fight alongside DeathClan against MoonClan. In the same terrible strike, DeathClan took Dragonstar's daughter prisoner, and the MoonClan leader, working alongside deputy Raylight of NightClan, led a rescue mission that ultimately became a bloody battle and led to Eclipsedstar's awakening - and disappearance. This was only the second in a long string of terrible battles against DeathClan, in a war that would last the entire leafbare and only end, at last, with the help of DayClan and SunClan.
There have since been moons of peace in the forest, and DeathClan, though bitter and broken, reduced to lingers powerless on the outskirts of the Clans' territory.
