Compiled and posted entirely for your convenience while you're creating your epic bios for your cats. These are the suffixes that, under the condition that they are paired with suitable prefixes and are fitting for their bearers, will most certainly be accepted. They are by no means the only ones- we have, for example, SunClan’s medicine cat, Blackrain. There are others as well, but they are more questionable. You are not limited to these suffixes for your cats’ names. Just be aware that these are the majority of the names within the limits of acceptance here.
Berry (unusual, works with plants, e.g. Hollyberry; also works with adjectives, e.g. Yellowberry)
Bird (works with adjectives, e.g. Redbird)
Blaze (works with adjectives, e.g. Darkblaze, and some nouns, e.g. Lightningblaze)
Claw (a sign of strength/ferocity; well-matched with many prefixes, e.g. Stoneclaw, Jayclaw, Badgerclaw, Hollyclaw, etc. And adjectives, e.g. Goldenclaw)
Cloud (works with adjectives, and any noun of which there could be a cloud, e.g. Smokecloud, Sandcloud; things like Willowcloud would not work; a cloud of willow trees? No.)
Ear (Works with many nouns and adjectives, e.g. Foxear, Blackear, but obviously there are restrictions; something like Stone-ear might be odd, for example- implies deafness)
Eye (Works with very limited adjectives, e.g. Brighteye, but with virtually any animal suffix, especially birds; e.g. Hawkeye, Sparroweye)
Face (Actually rather general, just uncommon; works with adjectives, e.g. Gingerface, Speckledface; nouns, e.g. Sootface, Sandface; and animals, e.g. Badgerface)
Fall (only works with certain nouns, e.g. Rainfall, Snowfall)
Fang (same as claw, basically; well-matched with many prefixes; but please, no Birdfangs, etc. Birds don’t have teeth.)
Feather (works with adjectives e.g. Brightfeather; and birds e.g. Swallowfeather)
Fire (works with adjectives; e.g. Bluefire)
Flame (works with adjectives, e.g. Brightflame)
Flight (only works with animal prefixes, mainly birds, or the occasional adjective)
Flower (works with most plants; good with adjectives, e.g. Smallflower; okay with some nouns, e.g. Morningflower)
Foot/Leg (See: Fur; slightly different range of suitable prefixes)
Frost (works well with adjectives, e.g. Whitefrost; okay with some nouns e.g. Dawnfrost)
Fur/Pelt (Works with many nouns and adjectives (e.g. Dustfur, Sandpelt), but obviously there are restrictions; e.g. Hopefur makes no sense; hopeful fur? I think not.)
Heart (very general; can be used for animal prefixes, e.g. Fawnheart, or general nouns, e.g. Oakheart; or adjectives, e.g. Brightheart)
Leaf (works for virtually any plant; good with adjectives, e.g. Grayleaf)
Leap (only works with animal prefixes, e.g. Tigerleap)
Light (very unusual; only works with adjectives, e.g. Silverlight, and the rare noun)
Mist (very feminine; works with adjectives, e.g. Bluemist; okay with some nouns, e.g. Skymist)
Nose (perhaps a little more limited that fur/pelt; e.g. Fognose seems a bit odd)
Patch (much like spots but less common; e.g. Mudpatch, Blackpatch, etc.)
Pool (works best with adjectives, e.g. Blackpool; alright with some nouns, e.g. Lightpool)
Shadow (works with adjectives, e.g. Silvershadow, and some nouns, e.g. Hawkshadow)
Smoke (words with adjectives, e.g. Blacksmoke; much like Mist, but not as feminine)
Song (works with birds e.g. Swansong; okay with some other nouns e.g. Rainsong, Breezesong, Windsong, etc.)
Spots (very general; works with virtually anything; e.g. Kestrelspots, Rainspots, Goldenspots, Sootspots, etc.)
Step (only works with animal prefixes, or adjectives concerning motion, e.g. Shortstep for a small cat with shorter than average limbs)
Stone (works with adjectives, e.g. Whitestone)
Storm (great with adjectives, e.g. Blackstorm, Darkstorm; good with many nouns, e.g. Rainstorm, Firestorm, Snowstorm, etc. but be cautious; Woodstorm, for example, would be odd, as wood generally does not move, so it’s strange to picture a storm of wood)
Stream (best with adjectives, e.g. Graystream; okay with some nouns, e.g. Rainstream, Lightstream)
Strike (works with animals, e.g. Snakestrike; also with the occasional noun, e.g. Lightningstrike)
Stripe (very general; works with virtually anything, e.g. Badgerstripe, Sandstripe, etc.)
Streak (okay with adjectives, e.g. Redstreak; alright with some nouns e.g. Shadowstreak)
Tail (see: fur; e.g. Willowtail)
Thorn (see: Leaf; but Thorn symbolizes strength/ferocity; e.g. Rosethorn)
Whisker (perhaps a little more limited than fur/pelt; only because some combinations present very odd images; e.g. Snakewhisker… heheh, can anyone say ‘Medusa’?)
Wing (works with adjectives, e.g. Redwing, and naturally, birds; okay with some other nouns, e.g. Skywing)
Feel completely free to send me a PM if you have any suggestions for suffixes that you think should be almost-automatically acceptable. I may or may not agree, but I'll never ignore you. Silver Warrior’s isn’t really a dictatorship.
