Name: Aspentail
Prefix Meaning: She was born surrounded by aspen trees. Aspen trees have thin bark, stripes and are lightly coloured, as is she.
Suffix Meaning: For her natural sense of balance and gracefulness.
Age: About 15 moons
Rank: Warrior
Clan: SunClan
Description: Long, slender legs support a confident looking she-cat. Her eyes are a pale green, nothing special, but there are hints of intelligence in her almond-shaped eyes, but she seems distant, detached. No one knows what she's thinking. It scares plenty of cats off, even though she looks friendly. There is always a smile on her face, and the air around her is welcoming. This cat rarely speaks, and when she does, her words are melodic and softly spoken, as if they were uttered by a ghost.
She seems a bit uncomfortable talking with other cats, yet she does not present herself as shy. She looks confident and self-assured. Her muzzle is outstretched and lips slightly parted. There is almost a child-like innocence to her features, starting from her large ears and coming right down to her berry-pink nose. A sandy brown hue blankets her lithe body, and slightly darker tabby stripes are apparent in her coloring. Deep brown marks run down her forehead, outline her eyes and color the tip of her tail.
She moves gracefully, almost dancing as she walks. It is an easy exercise for her, because she could go so much faster. Where she lacks in strength, she makes up for in agility. Like an aspen's bark, her fur is thin, barely grazed by the wind. She is slender, but appears rather tall because of her long legs. Though appearing thin, she are muscular and capable of reaching high speeds. Brown stripes run down her chest and forelegs. Her white muzzle sprouts long white whiskers, which give her face an overall intelligent look.
This, everyone, is Aspentail.
Personality: Aspentail behaves quite strangely. To other cats, it almost seems like she is talking to herself. This is... more or less true. Aspentail appears quite confident (perhaps overly so), although at the same time, her eyes have an absent, dreamy look about them. To a normal cat, she may seem complicated or mysterious, because she rarely talks or socializes. This doesn't mean that she is unfriendly, but she sure loves her "alone" time. Whether she's playing in the forest, climbing trees or even collecting pebbles, Aspentail appears to be talking to herself. No, not really, because whenever she is alone, the forest comes alive with voices. She talks to tree, birds, rocks... and the scary thing is, they talk back. You could call them hallucinations, you could call them imaginary friends- but to Aspentail, they are real. They could just be figments of her imagination, or actual "crazy" symptoms, whatever. The important thing is, they aren't voices in her head. They don't "make" her do things. They are simply her friends.
Ah yes. Friends. There's Skylark, her best buddy. Skylark is the sarcastic, sharp-tongued adviser of Aspentail. They've been friends since her kithood. What's the catch? He's a starling, and he's not real. Aspentail, though, can see him as clear as the light of day. They go just about everywhere together, they're tight like that. In fact, just because of Skylark, Aspentail refuses to eat birds. What? Everyone thinks that this is strange, because birds are prey, and isn't prey meant to be eaten? But no, Aspentail could never hurt or eat a bird, because every time she looks at the prey pile, her stomach churns. She imagines eating Skylark and reconsiders her meal, picking out a rabbit instead. Her refusal to eat birds is just another reason why most cats give her strange looks. To be honest, she doesn't really mind, because most of the time, her head is up in the clouds. She would fail to notice a badger, even if it popped up right in front of her.
But Aspentail isn't all crazy. She even has few friends here and there. Only, they aren't really close enough to her to understand who she is and how she thinks. They're just cats that she chats with every now and then. Once someone finally gets to know her, they'll find that she is a caring, gentle cat. If you were her best friend, she'd try and beat you at everything, make you take more risks, teach you about herself and best of all, tease you to no end. She's really an awesome cat, when not detached from reality, at least. She's concerned about her clan, the world around her and life in general. Aspentail can be quite serious sometimes (although not often), and she likes to argue her opinion about things whenever she gets the chance. She holds very firm beliefs about almost everything, from raising kits to the best hunting techniques. She's surprisingly logical and- naturally- creative. Aspentail is gentle and playful with kits, and she would be a great mother if she had some of her own one day.
And then there's the dark side. Yes, even Aspentail has a dark side. What ticks this cat off the most is when someone interrupts her thought flow. Just imagine, Aspentail is deep in thought, suntanning on the rocks. And then some random cat pops out and says, "Hey, want to have a race?" Then Aspentail is irritated, turns to the cat and says, "No. Some other time." Sometimes it gets the cat to go away, but mostly, their reply goes like this: "But that's what you always say!" And then Aspentail is spitting mad. She immediately walks away, shouting, "Why can't people just leave me alone for once?!" Yup. That's how it usually goes down. That is also the reason why Aspentail barely has any friends. You have to learn to keep your distance, because when she tells you to go away, you should seriously go away. I mean, she always feels somewhat bad after she runs off on someone, but just a little bit. A tiny bit. Aspentail also hates it when other try to tell her how she's feeling, rather than letting her decide for herself. But that doesn't happen often, because, well- who in their right mind would ever try and figure out someone as weird as Aspentail?
Believe it or not, Aspentail is not just an angry/crazy/solitude obsessed cat. Aspentail falls in love easily, and it's hard for her to move on after being close with somebody. She hates giving up on people, and blames herself if a friendship doesn't work out well. She's quite adventurous. Aspentail is child-like and playful. She appears to have not a care in the world, but this is far from true. Sometimes she worries about her future, sometimes her clan. She even worries about fitting in with the rest of her clanmates. This is only when she is aware of the world around her, though. She daydreams so much that she doesn't really know what is real and not real (hence her little bird friend, Skylark.) She tends to be highly forgetful because this, sometimes even to the point that she forgets her assigned patrol time. But she tries, she really does. Just because she doesn't quite fit in doesn't mean that her clan is not important to her.
And just because she doesn't talk much doesn't mean she doesn't know how to have fun! Aspentail is an adventurous, daring cat. She is surprisingly not easily hurt, and she always has a playful comeback in mind. But when someone seriously wounds her, she doesn't forgive them for days, but forgive them she does. Even when they aren't worthy of it. Aspentail likes to be right, but when she isn't, oh well. She doesn't understand why others are so obsessive about it, because when they're wrong, they're crestfallen. This puzzles her. But let's face it, Aspentail isn't a saint. In the past, she has played more than her fair share of pranks on her fellow clanmates. And she always got away with it, too. They never really suspected her, mostly because she was such a quiet cat. After all, if there's nothing to say, why say anything at all?
This is especially true when she is around a large group of cats. Whenever she tries to say something, they usually ignore her, and she feels hurt. So, she says nothing at all, so not to embarrass herself. She hates being with many people at on time, and prefers one on one relationships. There's another reason for this, too. Whenever she dislikes someone, she usually keeps it to herself. But once she gets too hyper, she might be influenced to tell someone about it, and that person tells everyone. After this happened to her a couple of times, she swore to never tell her secrets to anyone ever again, because they didn't care if anyone found out. Even when she told them she was upset, they didn't apologize, but they instead told her to not be so emotional, and that it isn't a big deal. But to her, it was.
Aspentail is an emotional cat, as you may well see, even if she keeps it to herself most of the time. But did you know that she is also stubborn as hell? If you want to make her do something she doesn't want to do, well then, good luck. And even if she agrees, then you will have one angry cat on your hands. She'll be silently fuming, silently loathing you the entire time. And if she gets a chance to yell at you, well, she will. If she gets a chance to escape, she will. But of course, if you have something she wants... she'll do anything. And what is it that she wants, no, needs so badly? She needs someone to understand. She needs someone that will be there for her, everyday. She needs a friend that is real, someone that she can touch. And nothing else. She would die to even experience this kind of love, this kind of friendship. This is the only thing that can truly make her break down.
History: She was born in the middle of newleaf, right under an aspen tree. Her mother unexpectedly went into labor while taking a walk in the forest. When she saw her lone, newborn kit, she beamed. The kit had thin fur and stripes ran along its whole body. So Sandfur named her Aspenkit, for her resemblance to the trees around her. Aspenkit was the only kit of her litter, which is probably why she spends so much time by herself. Back in the nursery, she earned lots of of attention from her mother, but there weren't any kits to play with. Aspenkit, feeling a bit lonely, made friends with Skylark, the starling. He was her only friend, other than her mother. Aspenkit talked to him when there was no one else to make conversation with. They even played games together.
Her mother and the other pregnant queens noticed this, and were concerned, seeing her apparently talking to herself. They eventually dismissed it as one of her stages, and that it wouldn't last. It did last, though, even when other kits started to populate the nursery. They were her supposed playmates, but she did not play with them. This was mostly because her mother died when she was yet three moons old. Aspentail, in shock, didn't play with the other kits, just stared up at the sky and wished that her mother would come back. By the time she recovered, the other kits didn't really want to play with her anymore. So she went back to her own little world, having fun with Skylark once again.
When Aspenkit became an apprentice, she wore the title with pride. She could now go wherever she pleased, so she pitied the younger cats. They had so little freedom. For the most part, Aspenpaw was a hardworking apprentice. Elder duty didn't really bother her, although she blushed with embarrassment whenever the elders found their moss unsatisfactory. This, unfortunately, happened often. It wasn't really her fault, she just either lost track of time or didn't notice the burrs sticking out of time. Sometimes she even came back empty-handed, forgetting her task completely. After a few sharp scoldings, the elders learned to pity her and dismissed it more easily. Aspenpaw noticed this gesture of kindness and started working extra hard to please them.
She tried to stay on task and make their bedding more comfortable, because, well, she felt sympathy for the elders. They could no longer do everyday things as well as they used to. Some of them couldn't even see anymore! Aspentail always shuddered at the thought; she couldn't imagine life without her senses. But other than moss duty, Aspenpaw- like any other apprentice- was most excited about battle training. She awaited the prospect with shining eyes. Aspenpaw learned rather quickly, mainly because she was so eager to learn. Her mentor liked to praise her skill and devotion, even dismissing her absentmindedness sometimes out of sheer gratitude.
Hunting was alright, but it didn't give her as much adrenaline. Aspenpaw didn't even pass her first hunting assessment, because she spent so much time trying to spot her prey first. You see, she isn't very observant, even now. However, when Aspenpaw had free time- which wasn't often- she liked to run, climb trees, and do just about anything, really. Sometimes she felt a bit lonely, playing by herself. She probably knew, deep down, that Skylark wasn't real, and that he wasn't a substitute for real friends. Aspenpaw tried to make friends with the other apprentices, but they didn't really understand her that well. After some time, she gave up and returned to play in the forest by herself.
Aspentail was only just named a warrior, so there isn't much to tell here.
