Description: If one were so glance at Whiteshadow, the first thing they would notice is his fur - or rather, the amount of it. His fur is very long, and gives him the appearance of a ball of fluff. His fur is more of a disadvantage to him than anything else. Although it gives him a handsome appearance, and keeps him warm in those especially cold days, but in summer he often gets too warm and can overheat. His fur often takes very long to dry, and can get caught on plants as he walks past. It's these things that often make him wish he had shorter fur. The colour of his fur is white, typical of most DayClan cats. The colours change similar to that of a Siamese. With the fur at his face, ears, paws, and tail, it darkens in colour. However, unlike the classic Siamese, on which the fur darkens to black, it instead darkens to grey. Overall, his fur portrays him as quite a handsome tom.
His build is very difficult to see under all his fur. But if his fur was far shorter, one would see that he is lean and fast, like the majority of DayClan cats. He perhaps would be one of the fastest cats in his clan, but he has a downfall - his masses of fur slows him down. This doesn't make him slow for a cat, but it does make him slow for a Dayclanner. It makes him feel like he is a little less like a proper Dayclanner, which just adds to his dislike of his fur length.
His facial feature give him a serene appearance, as his expression often doesn't show what he is feeling. His ice-blue eyes add to his calmness. His eyes are his most expressive part of him. They are normally deep and thoughtful, but when he is (rarely) angry, they darken.
Personality: Whiteshadow is an unusual cat. He is is quiet and mysterious, and many cats find it difficult to read him. He doesn't show much emotion, only a calm exterior. A lot of cats think he's a little anti-social, so his number of friends are limited. When with his friends, he is quiet. They talk to him and he listens. But wait a minute, that doesn't quite work. He can't listen. He's deaf.
He has been deaf since birth. Being unable to hear, his communication skills are restricted. However, he can understand what it being told to him, as he has learnt to read lips. He can speak as well, but since he can't hear his own voice his speech is often slow, and not pronounced correctly. These restrictions do make him feel cut off from everyone else. He isn't helped by the fact that he isn't a very expressive cat, so it is very difficult to understand him.
He is a very deep thinker. Maybe if he could speak better everyone would know just what an intelligent and thoughtful cat he is. He doesn't mind listening to another cat tell him about their troubles. He is a good "listener" (you know what I mean) and sometimes even gives advice (well, he tries). He doesn't talk much about himself. He enjoys running and hunting and physical activities in general. He even enjoys fighting, and believes that sometimes fighting is the right thing to do.
Some cats think that he shouldn't be a warrior. They think that since he is deaf, he should be put in the elders' den. He himself disagrees. He gets by fine without hearing. He thinks it's a little overrated, but then again, he doesn't really know what sound is. He secretly wishes that he could hear, and be normal like everyone else. But sometimes he's glad that he's deaf. He has a fear of being noticed or having too much attention, and being deaf allows him to not get involved with things as much. He prefers to watch, rather than get involved. Because of this, he also sees beauty where others would miss it. Sometimes he can be seen just sitting and watching a butterfly on a flower, or the sun setting or water flowing down a stream. This is part of makes him so mysterious, because often no one can understand why does these things.
History: As a kit, Whiteshadow was a source of pity. The other kits didn't really mind that he couldn't hear, but the other clan members felt sorry for him. When he was very young he didn't quite understand why. He didn't realise that he was the only one who couldn't hear. To him, it was completely normal. But as he aged, he started to realise the truth. The other kits could communicate, even when they couldn't see each other. When it eventually dawned on him, he felt a little bitter. He tried not to mind, but deep down he knew he did.
When the time came for him to become an apprentice, the leader visited the nursery. The kits were curious of this, as it seemed important. His mother had a discussion with the leader. Even though the two cats were out of hearing range, Whiteshadow still knew what they were talking about (what did hearing range matter to him?). The leader was telling his mother that Whiteshadow would never be able to be a warrior. Whiteshadow felt strangely enraged by this. He didn't think it mattered that he couldn't hear. He could still fight and hunt! He then acted completely out of his own character, but marching up to the leader and declaring that he didn't think it was fair. It was a stroke of luck that he managed to pronounce almost every word he said correctly. Next day he became an apprentice.
With most of his training, he was quite good. He was polite to all the warriors, and he understood the importance of following rules and caring for the elders. When it came to fighting he was good at it, even if he didn't like violence much. However, when it came to hunting he struggled. There was mainly one reason for this, and it involved his hearing. He could pinpoint his prey fine, but he didn't know how much noise he was making. He did try very hard, but he just didn't know what caused a lot of noise, and how to prevent it.
Nowadays, Whiteshadow is a good warrior. Although his hunting still isn't that good, it has improved a lot. He is a loyal warrior to DayClan. Although some do doubt his usefulness, and ignores this. He is a mostly happy cat.

Very nice, Amberflare. =] I notice, though, that the majority of his personality covers how he lives with his deafness. But surely he's a little more complex than calm, quiet, and thoughtful? Say he could hear; what else might be a part of his personality? Does he have any particular values, likes, dislikes, fears? How's his sense of humor? You don't necessarily need another whole paragraph, just a handful of little details and quirks here and there that make him uniquely him, not just a quiet, thoughtful deaf guy.
