Name: Dragonstar Prefix Meaning: Even as a newborn he had the will and courage of a mighty dragon, and his parents wanted him to achieve great things. Suffix Meaning: He is leader of MoonClan. Age: 50 moons Rank: Leader Gender: Tom Clan: MoonClan
Description:
When someone envisions a clan leader, it is often the image of a tall, proud, majestic cat with a sharp mind, sharp claws, and the strength of a tiger! If you look at Dragonstar then he might very well fit into that little vision. His muscles bulge under his finely groomed fur and his claws are sharpened and ready to shred at a moment’s notice.
Dragonstar's pelt is hard to categorize in a color. It's not light enough to be grey, but not dark enough to be black. It's like the color of burnt wood after a fire. Or like dark smoke. It only adds to his handsome features that so many toms envy and she-cats adore but he has never let this go to his head.
His eyes are probably the most interesting thing about him. They are a bright orange, almost golden, amber color that is very hard to tear your gaze from. There is usually always feelings and emotions swirling deep within his eyes, and if you know how to find, then them they are clearly written on his face.
Personality:
Dragonstar is a very outgoing and kind cat. He loves company from any other feline and doesn’t like being alone. He usually walks around camp, making sure that tasks are done and that all cats are well fed and taken care off. He is hardly in the leaders den unless he is sleeping. He is always on top of things and knows when everything is happening.
He loves playing with kits and enjoys training apprentices. He always makes sure to know his clan well and therefore he can match up mentors and apprentices almost perfectly. He thinks of his clan as his whole family since he never really had one. The one thing that means the most to him in life is his family. Strangely Lightningheart and her best friend Woodpelt have managed to worm themselves into that spot as well and he considers them to be like his family. He is very overprotective of them and can often be seen spending time with them.
His loyalty and friendship is unmatched by anyone. Most cats in the forest cannot recall another leader as strong and proud as Dragonstar and that has earned him a lot of respect from not only cats in other clans, but also other clan leaders. He sees them as friends and is highly against any sort of fighting unless it is called for. Yes, he does have a tiny grudge against NightClan for unknown reasons (like all cats in MoonClan seem to have) but that doesn’t mean that he tries to pick fights any chance he gets.
He doesn't like it when things go wrong, or when something unplanned happens. He is very OCD in the way that he needs to know exactly what is happening in his clan. But even if there is a situation that he did not expect, his quick thinking and acting usually solves whatever problem may have risen. Dragonstar is very good at portraying what others want to see. If MoonClan is in the middle of freezing leaf-bare with no food and disease raging, the gray tom will know exactly what to say to ease any frazzled pelts. This of course makes it very hard to tell what the leader himself is feeling, since he usually puts on a brave face for his fellow clanmates.
The thing that means the most to him is his mate, Runningjade, and his two kits, Doveflight and Eaglekit. Although he still thinks of Doveflight as his little trouble making kit that still needs to be in the nursery rather than the Warrior's Den, he completely respects the Warrior she has become and watches her with such pride in his eyes that most others are envious of the relationship the father and daughter have. Dragonstar is equally as proud of his little son, Eaglekit, and he can't wait for the day when he too will stand before him to receive his Warrior Name.
History:
Dragonstar was born in Moonclan to the leader and a kind mother. He had one sister that he knew of, Softkit. When he was little, he also overheard his parents talking about two brothers. He wasn't quite old enough to understand, and he never asked his parents about it. His father, Minterstar, always seemed slightly dejected from him though, and this always puzzled Dragonstar. He knew that his mother had not been his father's first mate but he still couldn't understand why his father didn't seem to put his whole heart into his words whenever he spoke to Dragonstar's mother.
Dragonstar never did ask why, his father had the type of authority around him that should not be questioned and cats rarely doubted his words or commands. Thus, Dragonstar caught onto the same aura and that's why some cats say he succeeded his father. Dragonstar had always been playful and energetic as an apprentice, causing the most trouble in the clan and never leaving Warriors alone. (most cats who know him today look upon his daughter and state how utterly similar she is to him at that age) But he still managed to earn his clan mates respect and no one questioned the descision to make him a Warrior a moon before the rest of his den mates after he showed courage in a MoonClan and DeathClan battle.
Dragonclaw immediately advanced in skill and respect as a Warrior and he taught himself to become independant. He always liked to believe that his father was proud of him, but whenever he received praise from the leader, Dragonstar could see in his father's eyes that something was missing. His father was broken inside, and it wasn't until later in life that Dragonstar learned that his father had had a mate and two daughters before him and his sister. They had both died from whitecough, and the tough leader had never been able to let them go. The gray tom withdrew from his father then, knowing that he would never be loved like his half-sisters had been. Dragonstar never knew the real feeling of a family.
One of the greatest things in his life happened during his first moons as a Warrior. He met the love of his life, Runningjade. They had never really talked before, and it was when a hunting mission went wrong and they were stuck snowed in for an entire night that their feelings sparked. She was the most amazing, beautiful, sweet, and wonderful thing that he had ever met, and she was equally awed by his gentle and kind nature. They were soon the clan's favorite couple as the two were always together, never separated. She would be the one by his side as tragedy struck in his life.
In a sudden surprise attack from DeathClan, MoonClan suffered severe injuries and casualties. It was that night that his sister, Softnose, died. While she was attending to an injuried Warrior, a DeathClanner started to sneak up on her brother when he was distracted. In a desperate attempt to save her brother, Softnose launched herself in front of the DeathClan Warrior, succesfully diverting him and saving Dragonstar. But she was also killed in the process. In the same battle, MoonClan's current Deputy suffered severe injuries and died later that night, opening up a splendid position and a chance that Dragonstar might actually be chosen. Sure enough, his father chose him as the deputy and that following leaf-bare Dragonstar made an unexpected jump to leader when his father died from Green cough. This saddened Dragonstar immensly, especially since he had still not gotten over the death of his sister, but something that bothers Dragonstar to this day is that his father just seemed to give up when he first caught onto the sickness. It only managed to tear him and his father further apart, and Dragonstar decided that day that his father had never truly loved him. He vowed never to become like him.
The first couple of moons of his leadership was tough, as there were still cats in the clan that disapproved of him being the old leader's son. Dragonstar did his best though, and it was more than enough, earning a reputation in the clan as a kind-hearted leader who only did what was best for the clan. A couple of moons into his leadership he received the happy news that his mate was pregnant with kits. There was no happier tom in all the forest than Dragonstar when he returned one night from the gathering to find his mate with a small white little kit, happily nestled by her mother's stomach. A small part of him was disappointed that there was only one little kit, as he had envisioned a large litter with little kits running around camp and causing mayhem. But, that did not mean that he loved the kit any less. On the contrary, this little kit, lovingly named Dovekit after both her pelt and after his dead half-sister, was spoiled rotten with her father and mother's love. Dragonstar called her "the princess of MoonClan."
Dragonstar continued to prosper as a leader, and soon was known in the forest as being one of the greatest MoonClan has ever seen. (and that is not an understatement) He is also presently the oldest and most experienced out of all the leaders, and although it makes him feel old, it still brings him pride that he has managed to stick around for so long. And he has no intentions of going anywhere.
