Name Meaning:
Raykit was given his name due to his unusually light pelt. He stood out against the dark furred pelts of his companions like a ray of light. Raylight seemed an appropriate warrior name due to his light colored pelt as well as his personality, which seemed to light NightClan up like the sun and lead them all into a bright future. His loyalty and determination earned the suffix light, and was honored in his warrior name.

Description:
Raylight is a gray tabby tom with eyes that are bronze in the darkness but a sort of dark yellow in the light. His tabby markings are faint and small, like rays of light from the sun behind a cloud. He is a strong cat, and his muscles are attuned to running and fighting. He has a thick pelt that doesn't get rid of water easily. Water tends to stay absorbed in his fur for a long while, but eventually it dries off. Raylight's fur stands out in the shadows, but he can still blend in. His tabby markings help him out with that. Besides the tabby pelt, Raylight has no markings anywhere on his body. This tom is built a bit stocky in some places, but it mostly sleek. He is by no means agile, but he is very flexible from extensive stretching that he engaged in. He has long whiskers that can pick up many vibrations shorter whiskered cats can't, but his nose is smaller and not as sensitive as some. His ears are regular sized, and he can hear just like any other cat. His claws are also average sized, and steel gray. If he doesn't sharpen them himself, though, they'll grow to be blunt and won't inflict any harm on an enemy cat's body. Raylight's paws are large and hold his weight evenly, but he can also shift his weight. His legs are average sized, but he still runs a bit slower than most cats because of his musculature. Raylight's tail is unusually long, and with it he has excellent balance, an advantage for hiding in the trees when he can't merge with the shadows like the other NightClan warriors.
Personality:
Raylight is a tom who values loyalty and the warrior code above all. He is loyal to his leader and will do most anything asked of him without question. He always tries his best at every activity, and possesses a fiery determination to succeed in anything he does. Because of his unusual light colored pelt, he is usually teased by the other NightClan cats, but he has grown to live with this. He replies with a clever retort, or goes on without replying. He hasn't intentionally made any enemies in his life, and has a relatively quiet personality. This tom is very respectful, loyal, and trustworthy. You could trust him when you have nobody else. He is also an excellent friend, and will be there for you every time. Raylight has plenty of patience because of the way the other warriors treat him, and could make an excellent mentor if given an apprentice. He has no preference for warrior activities, and will even clean out the elders' den if asked if it helps his Clan. He will treat every can in a non-prejudiced way. Like every cat, though, Raylight has his flaws. If he is underestimated he will usually get very upset. If he is bossed around by a younger cat or a cat who hasn't earned his respect, he will narrow his eyes and quietly do the task after telling the cat through body language that he isn't really happy. Sometimes, Raylight will get to be in a really bad mood, and he will snap out and be completely mean. He always apologizes later, though, and attempts to make it up to the cat.
History:
Raylight was born to a wise mother and a reckless father. His mother, Meadowflower, always told him to be loyal to his Clan above all, and that's where Raylight's intense loyalty came from. His father, Thornslash, told him to value a couple of things in life and to never let them go, and to always have a constant in his life - lessons that he had learned from his overly reckless behavior. For Raylight, his constant has always been his loyalty to NightClan. Raylight was born without any siblings, and grew up as an independent tom. When Raylight became an apprentice, his mentor was Youngheart, a senior warrior. Youngheart drilled him constantly in fighting moves and hunting, and the amount of intense training sessions that Raylight had has made him stronger than the regular cat. He also became more flexible, as Youngheart drilled him in that as well. Raylight's warriorship was brought about when he rescued a kit from a falling log. The log had landed on the kit's tail, crushing it, and Raylight somehow managed to push the log away using his immense strength. He became a warrior at eleven moons, and has been one for ten moons. He has learned from the senior warriors about how to progress through the Clan, and even went through a famine in NightClan. His youth strengthens the Clan, but Raylight is humble and doesn't ask for anything in return for what he does. When he once fetched catmint for a greencough epidemic, it was because he realized the medicine cat herself was sick, and without asking he fed the catmint to the medicine cat, who then regained the strength enough to care for the other cats. Raylight never asked for anything in return, but was publicly honored at a Clan meeting. Raylight vows to continue working for his Clan, and would never be disloyal without an excellent reason.
When NightClan's previous deputy Ravenflight was killed, Eclipsedstar needed a new deputy. Raylight was picked even though he had not been a mentor yet, but Eclipsedstar heard of how Raylight had helped Silkstream as an apprentice and thought that enough to prove her could be a great teacher. Raylight himself was surprised to become deputy, but has much respect from his Clan and will do the best he can.
