Name:
Hurlshadow (now Hurlstar)
Name Meaning:
Hurlkit was given the name by her mother because her mother wanted a kit that was outgoing, and by naming her Hurlkit was hoping for this to come out in her personality. It did, shown as her outgoingness. Shadow, her warrior prefix, describes how her pelt fades to black at the tips, like she's half in and half out of the shadows.
Age:
35 Moons
Rank:
Leader
Clan:
DayClan
Description:
Hurlshadow is a sleek silver she-cat with fascinating blue eyes. Her eyes are a dark blue, giving her an intense look. They seem to stare right through you, but Hurlshadow can also make her eyes gentle, full of strength, determined, sometimes fierce. During battle, they glow with a battle glint that burns with power and lack of self preservation, and this usually causes a cat to take a step back before picking a fight with her. Hurlshadow's silver coat is a lighter silver than most, and is glossy like a fish's body. It sticks right out if it's daylight, but at night, with nothing to make it shiny, it fades into the background. This she-cat's body holds near no scars except for a small nick in her ear from a fight with NightClan.
Her fur darkens to black on on her tail so that the tail tip is black, and also darkens on her paws to pure black right at the bottom. Her ears also darken to black at the tip. She also has a black stripe stretching down her spine. This stripe sticks out only in the brightest hours of the day, but isn't noticed next to the brilliance of her silver fur sometimes. Hurlshadow inherits the 'shadow' part of her name because of where her fur darkens to black. She's a silver cat, but she seems part shadow at night because some parts of her are covered in black, like a shadow.
She's built sleek like all DayClan cats are, and her sleekness helps her run quickly. She isn't super strong like a tom, but amazingly strong for a she-cat. This, however, doesn't mean that she lacks speed. Her amazing speed appears when her Clan needs it, not only in her legs but also in her claw power. Speaking of her claws, they're regular in sharpness and size, but she lost a claw from her front left paw because of a particularly nasty border skirmish. She's learned to adapt to its absence, though, but this could be considered a small physical weakness of hers.
Personality:
Hurlshadow's loyalty to DayClan is that of the extraordinary warrior. She would do anything for her Clanmates and would go to great lengths to keep them from harm. Despite her love for her Clan, she is always impartial when it comes to dealing with Clan matters. For example, if a mouse runs across the border with NightClan and some NightClan cats enter her territory to catch it, she'll stop them and send them back across the border, but she'll know that the prey is theirs because it originated from NightClan territory. She also knows how to deal with cats in all sorts of situations. If two cats in her Clan are having an argument, for example, she'll jump in and solve the argument for them by first hearing both sides, and then choosing and backing it up with logical judgement. You see, Hurlshadow is a very logical she-cat. Logic makes sense to her and therefore needs to be followed. This does make her seem weak at times, but Hurlshadow is never weak. She always seeks to remain strong for her Clan and strong for her own good.
In battle, Hurlshadow is to be feared. She has great speed and uses it to her advantage. She never backs down from a challenge and will fight up to three warriors at once for her Clan if she has to, more if the situation requires that. She doesn't take a look at a situation and say that everything is hopeless; instead, she takes a look at the possibilities and logically chooses the best decision. Her calm personality is an asset to her leadership, as well as the fact that she usually makes very good decisions that yield near perfect if not perfect results.
Hurlshadow is, however, a very quiet cat. When she speaks every cat listens, because her words are loaded with meaning. She doesn't have any enemies because of the way she deals with disagreements and because she's a cat of few words, but her patience does sometimes run out, and then she snaps. She always apologizes later if she logically finds that necessary, though. When insults are aimed at her or her Clan she will usually snap right back with the spirit of a NightClan warrior. This is the only time she will take an aggressive approach before a gentle one, though.
Hurlshadow definitely does not get angry often. She is usually calm, determined, courageous, loyal, and softly authoritative. It's easy for her to make friends as long as they aren't pushy and as long as they listen. If they don't listen to her good advice and end up failing [for example, an apprentice], she'll probably be a bit hard on them through her tone, but not through her words. You don't want to know, ever, what she sounds like when she's in a rage.
History:
Hurlkit was born as a regular kit and raised as a regular apprentice/warrior. It was her personality that made her stand out. There was a particular elder in her time, Duskfire, who taught her to be quiet, not talking all the time, and to think before she speaks. He made Hurlshadow into a cat whose words were few and far between, but wise beyond her years. Hurlshadow's loyalty to her Clan was a natural thing; it just happened, and there was no stopping it. DayClan was Hurlshadow's life.
When Hurlkit became Hurlpaw, she stopped visiting Duskfire. The elder died a moon after her apprenticeship began. Hurlpaw was mentored by Spitfire, a tom with a temperament that matched that of a NightClan warrior. It was from him that she inherited her sharp tongue when it came to countering insults thrown on her Clan. Spitfire was constantly arguing and was very headstrong. It was from her apprenticeship that Hurlpaw also learned how to solve conflicts. Being exposed to a member like that made her become knowledgeable on diplomacy, something that the DayClan leader had planned to help Hurlpaw grow. Hurlpaw was a very fast apprentice, the fastest runner in DayClan even, but her weakness lay in her strength. Mind you, she's very strong, but she hardly ever uses the full potential of her strength except in huge situations where its absolutely required.
When Hurlpaw became Hurlshadow border skirmishes with NightClan broke out. It was leaf bare, and NightClan were contesting for more territory to feed their hungry kits. DayClan were just as desperate for their prey. It was at the first border skirmish that Hurlshadow got the nick in her ear, and it was at the next that she lost a claw. After that the current leader, Yewstar, kept her out of battle so that she could adjust to having lost the one claw. In one moon Hurlshadow cracked how to hunt and fight without the claw, practicing with her mother and father. Unfortunately, both of them, and her mentor too, died in the border skirmishes.
The moons passed, and Hurlshadow continued to grow wiser and as a warrior. She's never found a tom to fall in love with, being a she-cat who can't tolerate love in her life. Her apprentice Flickerpaw became a warrior Flickerleg, but has since faded from her life. Eventually Basilstar became leader, but his first choice of deputy was Creamfeather. Hurlshadow was in no way ambitious, so he wasn't upset. Creamfeather was what was best for the Clan at the current moment. After Creamfeather's death, though, Basilstar made Hurlshadow deputy. She was the obvious choice because of her conflict skills, knowledge, and everlasting loyalty to DayClan.
Hurlshadow became leader successfully after Basilstar. She is adjusting to her post wonderfully and has appointed Cougarspots as deputy. She hopes to lead the Clan strongly in the coming moons and is doing a great job.
